“Za Dvoma Zajtsiamy (Chasing Two Hares)” — the legendary Ukrainian comedy on stage in Dublin

On April 24, Dublin will host a performance of the legendary Ukrainian comedy “Za Dvoma Zajtsiamy (Chasing Two Hares)” — a play that has filled theatres for decades and continues to sound fresh every time. This is not just a stage adaptation of a well-known story, but a lively musical production with vivid characters, subtle humor, and songs performed live by the actors. Audiences can expect over two hours of genuine laughter, witty dialogue, and the atmosphere of a true theatrical celebration.

At the center of the story is Svyryd Holokhvostyi, a charismatic adventurer who decides to marry two brides at once — one wealthy and one poor. Instead of easy gain, fate prepares a series of amusing trials and unexpected twists for him.

Starring a renowned cast:

- Oksana Pekun, People’s Artist of Ukraine, performing songs live;
- Tamara Yatsenko, People’s Artist of Ukraine — her Pronya has captivated audiences more than 800 times;
- Anatolii Hnatiuk, People’s Artist of Ukraine — over 300 performances as Holokhvostyi;
- Oleh Kovalenko — theatre and film actor.

Alongside the experienced masters, a young cast also takes the stage — Daryna Zavhorodnia, Diana Nebos, and Mykyta Marchenko, bringing modern pace and energy to the production. “This is a cast that can make anyone laugh. Tamara Yatsenko is a real powerhouse, Oksana Pekun is both a concert and a performance in one, and Anatolii Hnatiuk is the engine of the ensemble. The young actors maintain an incredible pace. I guarantee audiences will leave the theatre with sore cheeks from laughter,” says producer Serhii Chudaiev.

The production was created in collaboration with the First Comedy Enterprise Theatre, ComedySpace Production, and the Coliseum Production Center.

Directed by Anatolii Hnatiuk.

Producers — Oleh Shpanchuk and Serhii Chudaiev.

The performance in Dublin will offer the Ukrainian community and theatre lovers a chance to spend a spring evening in the warm atmosphere of a beloved classic — a story that remains relevant even beyond Ukraine.
